1) Purchase shoes at the end of the day.
Your feet swell throughout the day. Gravity pulls fluid downwards. Shopping for shoes late in the day ensures that you are getting the proper size.
2) Don't get fixated on sizes.
There is no standardization in the industry. A size 7 in brand A, may be a size 7.5 in brand B.
3) Check your shoes for proper length.
You should be able to press down a thumbnails distance from your longest toe. Typically, this is either the first or second toes.
4) Check your shoes for proper width in the forefoot.
Make sure that if you squeeze across the front of the shoe, it crinkles up in the middle.
5) Make sure that the shoe provides adequate support.
Anything that can be tied into a pretzel is bad.
